Chinese metalinguistic negation can be divided into two types:the domain of knowing and the domain of uttering."Bie(别)+quotation"is a kind of quoted negation to correct some inappropriate discourse and induce the listener(s)to take proper actions.Meanwhile,it can also be regarded as the negation of uttering for the purpose of performing actions."Bie+quotation"can be used to negate irrealis expressions,irresponsible expressions,negative attitudes,interpersonal or interactive words,and words of a different community.There exists a complementary tendency for the choice of negation objects among the different variant forms of metalinguistic negation which can be attributed to the deeper cognitive and pragmatic resources.To discuss the ambiguity of metalinguistic negation,we should clarify the basic concepts.Whether a negation is ambiguous or not can be judged from the echoic elements.Ambiguous metalinguistic negation within the limitation of syntax can be seen as homograph with ambiguity.

This paper makes a cognitive and semantic analysis on adjective-predicate sentences by using the related theory of subjectivity,objectivity,bounded and unbounded. We try to make a uniform and brief explanation on adjective-predicate sentences. The paper point out that there are three rank orders of different forms in the adjective-predicate sentences, which decide the selection and presentation of adjectives. We also try to reveal the parallel relationships of bounded, unbounded, subjectivity, objectivity, description and statement in predicate-adjective sentences.

The noun reduplications in Chinese are similar to those of Uyghur . They both have complete and symmetrical forms: expressing many quantities,being all round,referring things in general and having abstract sense in semantics . Their syntactic constructive functions of noun reduplications are restricted . The article contrasts their forms,grammatical meaning and syntactic constructive functions of noun reduplications from perspective of cognitive linguistics.

The cognitive study of Chinese as a second/foreign language(CSL/CFL)is an important subfield of second language acquisition(SLA).In recent years,there have emerged many empirical studies on cognition and Chinese language development,using Chinese data to further validate the roles of cognition in learning a second language.This article attempts to examine two focal topics relating to SLA and CFL cognitive studies:one has to do with the core issues of explicit and implicit distinction in three areas:(1)processing or learning,(2)knowledge or memory,and(3)learning conditions;and the other is to review,summarize,and reflect on recent empirical studies on implicit and explicit constructs in the field of SLA and CFL in order to further explore field’s needs,issues,and future directions.

"怎么"的语义是从原型语义逐步向次边缘语义、边缘语义扩展的。在语义扩展过程中,"怎么"首先失去疑问语义,由具体指代扩展为抽象指代,接着进一步扩展,"怎么"与客观世界相联系的指代关系褪尽,扩展出否定、感叹、类语气词等主观语义。"具体指代—抽象指代—无指代"是客观性成分越来越少、主观性因素越来越多而且主观化程度越来越强的过程。与自然种类的范畴化一样,"怎么"的语义扩展是由于认知领域的范畴化所致,与特定语境中主体的认知状态、认知程度有关,是主体在构建意义时的一种心理过程。
