初级阶段留学生汉语复合词加工影响因素研究 = Factors Affecting Cognitive Processing of Chinese Compounds:Evidence from non-proficient L2 Learner / 郝美玲; 厉玲.
// Language teaching and linguistic studies. 2015, No. 2
// 语言教学与研究 2015, 第2卷 8-18 p. This study mainly explores the responses made by non-proficient L2 learners in a lexical decision task which consist of 250 Chinese compound words. The subjects are divided into three groups according to the types of their mother tongues,i.e.alphabetic languages,Thai, and Korean-Japanese.The results of the observation are compared with those of the Chinese native speakers. With the multiple regression analyses it is found that the variables of word frequency, word semantics, and morpheme properties have significant influences on the processing speed of Chinese compound words. The results suggest that during Chinese compound word processing, the strategies of whole-word accessing and morpheme analyzing coexist for both Chinese native speakers and foreign learners.Based on the results,it is suggested that increasing the exposure of words and the role of morphemes to infer the meanings of words should be emphasized during teaching.

语境中语块的加工及其影响因素——以中级汉语学习者为例 = The Processing of the Contextualized Formulaic Sequences:A Case Study of Intermediate Chinese L2 Learners / 郑航; 李慧; 王一一; Zheng Hang;Li Hui;Wang Yiyi.
// Chinese teaching in the world. shijie hanyu jioxue . 2016, No.3. 哈尔滨师范大学国际教育学院 上海师范大学对外汉语学院401-418 p This paper presents the results of two experiments designed to investigate the processing of contextualized formulaic sequences by Chinese native speakers(NSs)and non-native intermediate L2speakers(NNSs),aiming to discuss the context effect in the on-line processing of multi-word expressions. In the lexical decision task, the selected formulaic sequences(FSs)were processed significantly faster than the matched non-formulaic sequences(non-FSs)by both the NS and the NNS groups. In the self-paced reading task, the context probability, which is the conditional probability for a FS/non-FS to occur given its pre-context,was transformed into a continuous variable through a corpus-based method(n-gram),and was analyzed as covariate with response time(RT).The results demonstrated significant correlations between the context probability and the RTs of the two types of sequences for both groups.By contrast, the processing advantage of the formulaic sequences found in the grammatical judgment task using non-contextualized measures disappeared from the NS group.Multiple linear regressions also showed that context was the most significant contributor to the NSs’ RT and the second most significant one to the NNSs’ RT.The overall results suggest that in Chinese second language teaching, the introduction to the typical contexts of FSs should never be neglected even when the target FSs are taught under holistic treatment.
