Problems and Strategies in Diploma Program of Adult Higher Education / Yu Qiding.
// Journal of Huazhong Normal University(Humanities and Social Sciences) 2014, Vol 53, N.5 p155-p163 This paper summarizes four recent trends in diploma program of adult higher education in China, which are : general universities are main providers for diploma program of adult higher education; the focus of learning level is moving from junior college level to regular college level ; informal learning is the predominant learning form for students to receive adult higher education; on-line education develops quickly and widely in adult higher education. However, there are four problems arising, such as, for diploma program of adult higher education, the entrance exam is relatively easy and students’ quality in knowledge is relatively poor; there is no sufficient investment resulting in the poor teaching quality; students have great difficulties in studying and their attitudes towards studying are not good enough; adult education diplomas are not accepted as legitimate by most employers. The paper proposes three strategies trying to solve these problems: improving schools’ teaching quality and manifest the features of adult education; fighting for more strong policy support and bettering the teaching conditions of schools ; improving the educational mechanism of adult higher education
