Lang Qichao was able to detail the Qing Dynast’s weakness in literature and fine arts-, revealing the greatestdifference between the studies surrounding- this period and the Renaissance. To construct a comprehensive new culture that is-advanced both in reason and emotion, Liang Qichao gave an in-depth analysis, examining both objectively and subjectively the reasons behind the difference, and proposing his own ideas on how to build “new literature” and “new fine arts”. Liang Qichao’s ideas are in stark contrast to the mainstream discourse of the New Culture Movement and Literary Revolution represented by Hu Shi and Chen Duxiu, forming a clear dialogue between them

1920年代梁启超写下了一系列研究佛经翻译史的文章,但这些研究成果一直被学界所忽略。梁启超收集了广泛而丰富的史料,从错综复杂的史料中梳理出清晰的历史脉络,并大胆地推翻了史学界的一些错误观点;此外,他通过同本异译的对比研究方法,评点重要佛经译者的成就与不足,从文化角度思考直译、意译问题,并深入剖析了佛经翻译对中国文学和语言的影响。梁启超的佛经翻译史研究在开拓史料范围和研究视野两个方面,都对当前翻译研究领域的史学探索有借鉴意义。
