The paper investigates the origin of classifier (...) in Chinese and Cái, Con in Vietnamese. The Chinese studies have determined thats the classifier Ge emerged more than three thousand years ago and becomes one of the most general classifiers in Chinese. The Chinese Ge is said to be equivalent to Cái and Con in Vietnamese, so this serves as the reason for the author to seclect them for this investigation. Although the classifiers of Vietnamese in general and the "Cái" and " Con" in particular, so far have not been clearly defined in term of their origin. However, when comparing Vietnamese Cái, Con to Chinese Ge semantically and syntactically, we can detect the similarities and differences of the values for both theory and application.

The paper investigates the origin of classifier ge in Chinese and Cái, Con in Vietnamese. The Chinese studies have determined that the classifier ge emerged more than three thousand years ago and becomes one of the most general classifier in Chinese. The Chinese ge is said to be equivalent to Cái, Con in Vietnamese, so this serves as the reason for the author to select them for this investigation. Although the classifiers of Vietnamese in general and the Cái, Con in particular, so far have not been clearly defined in term of their origin. Howerver, when comparing Vietnamese Cái, Con to Chinese ge semantically and syntactically, we can detect the similarities and differences of the values for both theory and application.

Đọc báo hiện là một nhu cầu của nhiều người trong xã hội hiện đại, khi hầu hết mọi thông tin đều có thể được tiếp cận thông qua báo, đặc biệt là báo mạng điện tử. Tuy nhiên, người Việt Nam gặp một số khó khăn trong việc giải thích nghĩa các từ ghép trên báo tiếng Anh, không chỉ bởi cấu trúc phức tạp của các từ ghép trong tiếng Anh, mà còn do sự khác biệt khá lớn giữa cấu trúc của danh ngữ trong tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt. Bài viết này phân tích về sự ảnh hưởng do sự khác biệt của trật tự từ trong tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt đối với người Việt đọc báo bằng tiếng Anh khi họ muốn hiểu nghĩa của các từ ghép – một trong những cách thức hiệu quả nhất nhưng cũng khó khăn nhất trong việc thể hiện nghĩa của các bài báo tiếng Anh.

Regional words in Hong Kong have unique characteristics and usage. An analysis has been made on the differences between Hong Kong Chinese words and mainland Mandarin words. The causations of the difference in language structures, cultural practices, and social discussion on the geographical aspects have been discussed. Based on the analysis, the author has expressed his view concerning the definition of certain entries in compiling dictionary.
