In this article, the authors have studied the effects of pitch and pitch contours of Vietnamese tones (in terms of frequencies and progression of the fundamental frequency F0) to the formant structure of 3 vowels [I, u, ɯ] to provide the acoustic parameters of this vowels in relation with tones. The research results could be applied to improve the quality of synthesis systems for Vietnamese and the identification of Vietnamese speakers.

In this paper, we will not parse all contents about phonetic know ledges and ability to use phonetic units knowledge of student, but only remak on some problens a few consideration as knowledge about Vietnamese vowel, Vietnamese consonant and student’s pronunciation competence and renak on the influence of local folk-speech on development and their phonetic competence.

Phonological hypotheis of double vowels as a syllable is one of the most complex phonological problems. In this article, the study of double vowels, the writer does not question the depth of the phonological aspects of the study, but mainly examines and depicts the double vowels in the expression of the inhabitants of the Southwest ( i.e., Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Dong Thap, An Giang, Kien Giang, Ca Mau) and comparison with standard Vietnamese, This is also the main content of the article. At the same time, the writer also conducted a survey, describing the variation of some vowels in the open syllable, in the syllable {-m, -w, -p, -j} will contribute to a more detailed description of the phonetic system domain, in the Southwest in particular and Southern dialects in general.
