The speaker of "speech acts of favour-asking" often uses one performative utterance with one core element - the performative expression and one or some extension elements. this paper analyzes and compares the structure of performative utterance of favour-asking in Chinese and Vietnamese with the aim of identifying the similarities and differences between those thats should be paid utmost attention in translation and language teaching.

In this paper, we prove that radiogram is a form of business letter. Besides, w analyze its structures with an aim to differentiate its from other types of business letters.

Many linguists have identified idioms and proverbs as separate units, free of communication purposes. In this research, we use the functional perspective to examine idioms and proverbs with regards to the following points 1) contextual meanings of idioms and proverbs with a consideration of the speaker’s purposes; 2) the writer’s creation in the structure of idioms, proverbs and the newly created meanings of idioms and proverbs; 3) the writer’s style characteristics in the uses of idioms and in stories and novels published after 1975.
