As more foreign words and phrases are used in Japanese, such phenomenon as Japanizing or altering foreign words started to appear. This article surveys the phonetic, semantic and morphological changes of foreign words of Indian-European origins used in Japanese language, as well as methods of Japanizing them.

This article describes the semantic characteristics of final modal particles in utterances used to ask in communication of the people in Thanh Hoa. We have indicated that there are a large number of final modal particles in utterances used to ask in communication of the people in Thanh Hoa and they have a both similar and different semantic characteristics in comparison with final modal ones in Vietnamese used by the whole people. They contribute to make the characteristics about tone and shade of meaning in communication for the people in Thanh Hoa.

Conversion is a productive type of word formation in English.Of the groups of nouns most likely subject to conversion, names of human body part are seen as a fertile source of new words added to the stock of English vocabulary.Despite thí fact, not much research has been conducted on how this type of nouns undergoes conversion. The aim of this article is to examine the grammatical characteristics of conversion of English words denoting human body parts, and, in the coming ones, systenatically investigate the semantic aspect as well as the Vietnamese equivalents of the phenomenon..

A number of words for animals in Vietnamese, Chinese and English do not have the same semantic mappings. By comparing and analyzing cultural aspects in meaning of such animals as dragon, dogs, and owls in these languages, we can understand differences in terms of culture, cognition regarding the meaning of animal words across cultures.
