// Ngôn ngữ và đời sống. 2014, Số 12 (230). 2014tr. 34-41 In linguistics, aspectual properties of a verb phrase or a sentence express a situation which has an inherernt endpoint in an internal structure of the situation. Verb pharses with inherernt endpoint are called telic verb phrases and the situation of which telic verb phrases represent is leading to a telic situation. In contrast, verb phrases without an endpoint in an internal structure are considered to be atelic verb phrases and the related situation is arelic. This paper focuses on telicity and atelicity distinction.
