This paper presents a relational model for the formation of Chinese characters and a model for the analysis of the formation which is adaptive to relational database. Using these two models, a database which comprehensively reflects the formation information of Chinese characters can be founded,and retrievals indexed with the condition of components,combinations and functions of components can be realized.The paper also proposes a form of expression for Chinese characters,which can be used as a code for them,and also applied in related fields such as automatic generation of Chinese characters.
