This article reseaches personal pronouns in the dialect of Thanh Hoa from pragmatics and semantics aspects. This indicates that: The number of personal pronouns is far more in comparison with ordinary Vietnamese. This is the results of uneven tranformation in phonetic of Vietnamese in Thanh Hoa. The diffirence in phonetic makes the distinction about the tone and shade of sematics in communication of Thanh Hoa people.

In the Japanese word class system, personal pronouns (addressing pronouns) account for a small number, and have distinctly different usage from Vietnamese personal pronouns. When using Japanese personal pronouns, Vietnamese students encounter a number of difficulties which commonly originate from not only the linguistic-cultural characteristics between the two languages, but also the specific communication styles of Japanese anguage. Therefore, this article clarifies characteristics of personal pronouns in Japanese 1 comparison with Vietnamese, and analyses equivalent types of translation of first-person ronouns from Japanese to Vietnamese, aiming to improve the quality of teaching/learning panese in general and teaching/learning translation in particular.
