The present study explores the effects of three purposely designed English reading tasks on the incidental vocabulary acquisition by bilingual ethnic minority college students in an attempt to test the applicability off Task-induced Involvement Load Hypothesis in teaching and learning English as third language(L3) in Xinjiang.The experimental findings show that reading tasks with higher involvement load are more effective for English vocabulary retention than tasks with lower involvement load,and the Hypothesis is verified in this research to be more suitable for high score achievers in English learning among bilingual ethnic minority college students.

This article has studied the acculturation of foreign students in China in aspects of their current acculturation level, the relation between Chinese teaching and acculturation by adopting both qualitative and quantitative methods . The study shows: students’acculturation levels affected by different cultural background and language levels have displayed complicated features; the bond between Chinese teaching and acculturation is intimate yet students are not satisfied with the teaching effect since they have learnt very limited knowledge of intercultural communication . Accordingly, some teaching suggestions are provided.

This study takes prepositional frame construction "zai X xia"as the research object,the present study examines whether semantic types and Chinese language proficiency affect the acquisition of "zai X xia"by English native speakers by using inter-language corpora survey and experimental investigation method. As the result,case semantic of "zai X xia"is more difficult than condition semantics of "zai X xia"; High-level English native speakers master better than intermediatelevel speakers. Besides,based on language transfer theory,this paper analyzes the reasons which affect the acquisition from comparison between Chinese and English,markedness,language distance,frequency and prototype. At last,on the basis of these findings,some pedagogical suggestions for teaching and learning prepositional frame construction are proposed.
