Tính khả chấp của câu và vai trò của tiêu điểm thông tin trong tiếng Việt / Nguyễn Hồng Cổn.
// Ngôn ngữ và đời sống 2015, Số 5 (235). 201513-18 tr. There are grammatically correct but inacceptable sentences and on the contrary there are grammatically incorrect but acceptable sentences. To assess the acceptability of sentences it is necessary to resort to different semantic-pragmatic factors, among which the information focus is an inportant one. This paper investgates the role of information focus for the acceptability of Vietnamese sentences as reflected in the choice of word-order alternatives and ellipsis alternatives. The results show that under the pressure of information focus specific sentences could b considered acceptable or inacceptable in certain contexts relatively independent of their grammaticality.

关于现代汉语动词再分类的新思考——由“不妨”的词性说起 = On the Classification of Modern Chinese Verbs:A Case Study of Bùfáng and Its Implications. / Peng Xiaochuan.
// Shijie Hanyu Jiaoxue. 2013, Vol. 27. 485-497 p. Most researchers believe that bùfáng( 不妨) is an adverb. In this paper,we make the following arguments. Firstly,bùfáng is not a mood particle when occurring sentence finally. Secondly, the sentence initial bùfáng and the sentence final bùfáng are identical in semantics and pragmatics, both performing evaluative functions and impacting the entire sentential proposition. The only difference lies in their respective function: speakers tend to pre-pose bùfáng when making suggestions, and post-pose it when making subjective evaluations of the propositions. This paper also argues that there are a whole class of evaluative verbs like bùfáng in Modern Chinese. On the basis of the observations above,a reclassification is proposed for Chinese verbs: the verbs indicating possibility and necessity can be reclassified as evaluative verbs, and the willingness indicating verbs as psychological verbs, thus removing the so-called subclass of modal verbs.
