Further reforms of Chinese teaching in primary and middle schools in Xinjiang pose the following serious challenges to universities in Xinjiang in preparatory Chinese teaching:polarization of Chinese knowledge among pre-university students,uneven development of Chinese skills,lack of professional Chinese teaching,poor humanistic quality education and so on. However,effective countermeasures are found listed as follows:compiling a series of course books,bettering curriculum system,conducting teaching on the basis of majors,Chinese levels and phases,increasing professional Chinese teaching,carrying out online Chinse teaching and enhancing humanistic quality education.

In the present paper the problems of advanced spoken Chinese teaching were outlined and the related studies were reviewed.An approach was then proposed to resolve the problems,which,based on the theory of chunks of language and providing much amount of chunk input and output,could help improve the teaching of advance spoken Chinese and students’ oral communicative competence.
