In the Confucian classical discourses,the distinction of "Hua""Yi"within several layers of meaning,is to emphasize the advancement and the dominance of the Chinese culture as the core,but also inevitably show the regional distribution of inside and outside,as well as the differences between ethnic groups based on the different languages,ways of life,customs and habits.In different historical contexts after Qin and Han Dynasties,the distinction of"Hua""Yi"actually had four specific expression forms and meaning types.Political struggle situations,especially the strategies of legalization of the rulers,actually dominated the meaning generation and knowledge production of the distinction of"Hua""Yi".This partly reflected the universal law of mental activities and confirmed Quentin Skinner’s view that political thought itself is political action.However,excessive practice and utility of mental activities,as well as closely following the political reality,may easily cause short-term behaviors in thought and knowledge production and also be not conducive to the growth of spirit and the advancement of political civilization of a nation.
