// Kỷ yếu hội thảo khoa học giảng viên lần thứ nhất năm học 2021-2022 Khoa tiếng Anh 10/2021 Hà Nội : Đại học Hà Nội, 2021tr. 57-65 Having been teaching Reading skills for first and second year students, the writer has found it difficult for motivating students to do reading extensively outside classrooms. Some of the reasons can be listed as: limited interactive tools for teachers and students to engage in reading at ease, unavailability of feedback system for students work, increased work load for teachers, limited reading choices. After several trial, the author has come to a list of 3 reading platforms that can help teachers to motivate and monitor students' reading outside the classroom, so they can self-practice and enhance their reading skill, as well as build up their vocabulary and knowledge.

// Kỷ yếu hội thảo khoa học giáo viên năm học 2020-2021 Khoa tiếng Anh 1/2021 Hà Nội : Đại học Hà Nội, 2021tr. 156-164 The process of learning reading has long been associated with a passive routine in which students closely read the materials prepared by the teacher, answer comprehension questions and finally check answer keys. Recently, extensive reading has emerged as a novel approach in foreign language learning, which offers the learners with greater interest and autonomy. This paper presents an overview of extensive reading and discusses the benefits of extensive reading on the learners' vocabulary acquisition, background knowledge, comprehension skills, confidence and motivation in reading. Some recommendations on the implementation of extensive reading are made at the end of this paper.
