The aspectual meaning of a situation is mainly determined by the main verb’s semantic structure. However, for the determination to be precise and more comprehensive, the verb’s arguments must be taken into account, especially the NP’s object and subject. The NP’ssemantic structure is defined by its reference properties: cumulative reference and quantized reference. The NP’s properties must be seen as important factors in defining the aspectual meaning of a situation. The interaction between the NP’s semanic structure and the main verb’s one provides temporal information such as boundedness or unboundedness od a situation descrided by the predicate. The present article will focus on the relevant properties of NP’s in determining the aspectual values like telicity and perfectivity.
