The qualification and quantification analysis of the high-leveled representations based on the statistical and computational methods constitutes one of the tendencies on the study of discourse representations.Most of the actually existed methods are founded on the quantification of propositions and the computation of the surface structure,which don’t take the local and global coherences into consideration.Based on the cognitive semantics theories and the calculation of propositional density,the present article has elaborated an offline methodology to qualify and quantify the mental representations of different levels from "microstructure"to"macrostructure"during discourse comprehension.As application,the qualification and quantification processes of"causal units"and"causal chain"have been presented in detail.By taking the local coherence and global coherence into consideration,the elaborated method corresponds much more to the cognitive processes of discourse comprehension.
