The words of colors are an important part in Vietnamese vocabulary. In the study of the origin of these words (red. blue, yellow, white and black), we found that Vietnamese names of colors shared more characteristics common to other languages in the Austroasiatic family. However, I some of them have become part of many of the genetically unrelated languages of Southeast Asia, such as Thai (one of the Tai-Kadai languages) or the Malayo-Polynesian group within Austronesian.

In the scope of this article, we conduct a project on love-related lexicon appearing in some Vietnamese and English love songs of the second half of the 20th century. Specifically, the aims of this project are two-fold: (1) identify the frequency with which some love-related words are used in Vietnamese and English love songs; (2) compare and contrast the love-related lexicon with a view to reaching some conclusions. This article has pointed out a number of differences in the manner Eastern and Western people express their love. Somehow, such distinctions may be explained by cultural differences of the two regions.
