In this paper, the tenses of the Indo – European languages such as English and French; and the tenses of the Asian language especially Vietnamese and Japanese are systematically studied in order to make clear some points of view on the tenses of some language groups with specific characteristics. The paper also contrasts between the tenses of the languages in agglutinative group such as: Japanese and Vietnamese in order to identify their similarities and differences. This paper could further contribute to the study of linguistic – literature as well as the teaching of the Japanese language and the use of language tense in particular.
