// Ngôn ngữ và đời sống 2014, Số 2 (220) 2014tr. 39-46 The author of this article – The falling tone in English performed by the Speakers of Hanoi and the equivalent expressions in Vietnamese – especially deals with the communicative value of intonation in English in general, and its falling tone in particular from contrastive linguistics perspectives (that is to show come differences rather than similarities) which what we have called the equivalent expressions both verbal and non – verbal in Vietnamese by the speakers native speakers such as the speakers of Hanoi. In terms of prosodic events, it is said to be one of the rather difficult issues for the non – native speakers such as the speakers of Hanoi to have a good command of English because of the abstract features of its own intonation in general and its falling tone in particular.
