// Kỷ yếu hội thảo giáo viên Khoa tiếng Anh chuyên ngành 4/2021 Hà Nội : Đại học Hà Nội, 2021tr. 6-13 In recent years, English has been increasingly used as an essential tool at universities where students are expected to learn different majors, namely Finance and Banking, Accounting, Business Administration, Tourism, International Studies, Multimedia, Computer Science all in English. Accordingly, attening lectures and acquiring expertise and recording it are basic academic requirements for any student to master. In the light, listening in general and listening and note-takings have been of greater importance, becoming a must among students. Nevertheless, the teaching of listening in EFL context has always witnessed tough challenges faced by teachers and students; especially, listening and note-taking skills are a much more challenging and complex pedagogical domain that teachers need to invest much time and effort to seek for pedagogical solutions to raise the quality of each Listening and Note-taking lesson.

// Kỷ yếu hội thảo khoa học giáo viên năm học 2020-2021 Khoa tiếng Anh 1/2021 Hà Nội : Đại học Hà Nội, 2021tr. 63-76 It is necessary to teach second language learners listening strategies because listening comprehension is a skill required and desired, and is also generally overlooked. Despite the influence of extensive listening, little research has been conducted on the effects of extensive listening. It is undeniable that this input is important in the development of skills. Listening comprehension is not seen as a priority by the conventional audiolingual approach and provides no opportunities to practice listening. The aim of this paper is to analyze theoretical and research basis os extensive listening and discuss its language learning advantages in different learning contexts for L2 students, and to explore different ways in which extensive listening can be applied productively. Practical tips are also given on how to soure freely avaiable extensive listening resources and how they can be used pedagogically to develop language proficiency. It is believed that extensive listening, when consistently applied, will not only boots the listening ability of students, but also have a significant effect on the overall learning of language by students.
