Sino-Vietnamese idioms can be classified into 2 types: a. original Sino-Vietnamese idioms are directly borrowed and remain their original Chinese idioms; and b. Vietnamized Sino-Vietnamese idioms, (consist of partly Vietnamese Sino-Vietnamese idioms and completelys Vietnamized Sino-Vietnamese idioms). The presence of various types of Sino-Vietnamese idioms in Vietnamese tells us about strong assimilation of Vietnamese towards Sino elements as well as the activeness and creativeness of Vietnamese people in receiving and Vietnamizing foreign languages, which are Sino elements in his context.
