A Chinese character (Kanji) is a kind of cultural self - expression which has profound cultural connotations. Analyzing the relationship between images, sounds and meanings of Chinese characters does not only create motivation but also helps students understand the relationships between language and culture, enhance their thinking ability and enrich their knowledge after each lesson. Through an analysis of two characters尊 (zun) and 道 (dao) the paper contributes to the discussion of Chinese character teaching method and the goal of Chinese teaching: Teaching proper behavior through the teaching of characters.
