Tóm tắt
Tóm tắt It has been shown that there is an automatic process of decomposition in recognizing visual form of complex words for native speakers. However, comparatively fewer studies have been conducted concerning morphological complex words in the second language(L2).In the present study,we employed a free recall task and a masked priming lexical decision task to compare a cohort of college students’ recognition of regular inflected words and transparent derived words. The results indicated that the inflected words were more difficult to recognize than the derived words. The participants appeared able to decompose the inflected words into morphemes but less able to do so with the derived words. We conclude that these differences are the result of the influences of the English learners’ low proficiency in L2 and their L2 learning habits.
