Classifier is popular in Sino-Tibetan. Chinese people were rarely aware of Classifier in ancient time.They used the term "Classifier" and thought it as a separate category until the middle of 20 th century. But the western missionaries in early years found Classifier and found the relation between number and Classifier, Noun and Classifier. Those achievements are very important in the history of study on Chinese grammar.
