Studying conceptual metaphor is recoghised a new research trend in linguistict, which is originated by Lakoff and Johmson in Metaphor we live by. From the linguistics viewpoint, the paper expects to study how the concept of WOMAN is mapped and what is the metaphorical structure of this concept through the woman’ desciption in Kieu Story by Nguyen Du. By doing this, the paper hopes to depict the woman destiny in feudal time and know more about Nguyn Du’s modern writing style.

This article focuses on clarifying the role of Vietnamese word and Chinese-Vietnamese word in describing the portrait of Thuy Kieu sister. According to the survey, aesthetic value analysis of the two language systems in the excerpts named “Sisters of Thuy Kieu”, the authors wanted to assert the language skills of Nguyen Du in “Tale of Kieu” - a masterpiece of Vietnamese literature.
