Compound sentence is the major subject of the research. The research is conducted on classification, ordering, explanation and the design exercises of compoud sentence based lesson in four mordern Chinese grammar books. Based on the researcho findings combined with thosed in other reaerch and grammar teaching rules, the relevant recommendations will be produced.

This paper aims to examine the importance of grammatical knowledge in the development of communication skills and to bring some of those insights from pragmatics into the English grammar classroom at the university level. The major principle is that when grammar is taught for communication, clauses or any other grammatical items should be held as resources in context. Thus, it is necessary for teachers of English to adapt more classroom activities so as to make grammar communication in context. Some demonstdrations of grammar teachings and communicative language teaching will also be the concrn of this paper.
