Verbs of visual perception in Vietnamese and English have long attracted the attention of linguists. However, research on these verbs from the point of view of cognitive linguists has been limited... It is true that our knowledge of the world is gained thanks to our perception through the sences, among which sight is the most important sense. By carrying out this research on verbs of visual perception, this paper aims at helping readers to better understand this group of verbs in English and Vietnamese. Our fingings show that there are many similarities between verbs of visual perception in English and Vietnamese. They both can be divided into 2 groups: intentional and unintentional cognitive verbs. Structurally, verbs of visual perception in English are always phrasal verbs, which are more complicated than their Vietnamese equivalents.
