Renovation to capacity-oriented courses is still facing many difficulties in tertiary education in Vietnam. Besides, in the context of comprehensive renovation to Vietnam’s higher education, from curriculum to assessment methods, assessment competence has a more critical role to play in teacher education programs. This article aims to present the development of a Language Assessment Course at the University of Languages and International Studies - Vietnam National University, from a knowledge and skill-based module into a competence-based course. Findings from the survey on this new-designed course among student attendees are also summarized.
