Language learning has become one of the key targets in Vietnam's education due to rapid integration of Vitenam into the global economy. The more essential language learning is, the more important it is to seek out efficient methods of assessing students' language skills. A variety of assessment techniques have come into existence and been applied to the field of language learning, two of which are high-stakes testing and peer assessment. This writing weighs up the two methods, summarizing their pros and cons predicates on previous research results. Then it specifically highlights the context of language learning in Vietnam's education. All in all, the author's perspectives on which method is a better fit for evaluating Vietnamese students' language capacities come to light.
