| Metaphor is a common linguistic phenomenon,and widely exists in our daily utterances.It is the main tool for us to understand abstract concepts and make abstract inference.Under the background of conceptual integration theory,this paper provides an analysis of noun metaphor by observing the aualia structure in generative lexicon theory at the same time.Supported by four examples,the paper claims that qualia roles can provide abundant contents for the mental space in conceptual integration and help with recognizing and understanding noun metaphor. | |
