| This paper analyzes the semantic tendency and lexicalization process of biebushi and ke-bushi,with a view to revealing the generality and difference among five fos-silized trisyllabic constructions"X-bushi"in terms of degree of fossilization,mechanism of formation,semantic tendency,degree of certainty,degree of tightness,and stylistic restriction.The fossilizing process of"X-bushi"can be taken as a process of idiomization,where the five trisyllabic constructions discussed in the paper are at different phases of idiomization. | |
